Studies on the Configurational Stability of 3-(2-Piperidyl)indoles

摘要

Attention must be paid to the possibility of epimerization (or racemization) in 3-(2-piperidyl)-indoles, which are frequently used as intermediates in the synthesis of indole alkaloids. The use of an electron-withdrawing protecting group, such as methoxycarbonyl, on the indole nitrogen provides a solution to this synthetic problem.
