Fluoride Ion-Catalyzed 1,2-Desilylative Defluorination: Syntheses of 1-Substituted 2,2-Difluorostyrenes

1-(3'-Chlorophenyl)-1 -trimethylsilyl-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane has been prepared in an excellent yield by the Mg-promoted defluorinative silylation of 3-chloropentafluoroethylbenzene and transformed to a series of 1-substituted 2,2-difluorosty-renes by fluoride ion-catalyzed 1,2-desilylative defluorination.
