摘要

The fractal rectangular boxes antenna with the periodic rectangular split-ring resonators (SRRs) is proposed in this paper. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to study the characteristics of this antenna. Based on the theories of composite SRRs structure and fractal structure, the near-zero-refractive effect and the left-handed effect are achieved at two frequencies. The proposed antenna has good performance parameters in the two different frequencies. Simulation results indicate that the left-handed effect and the near-zero-refractive effect. Compared with the conventional antenna, the proposed antenna has a lower return loss and a higher gain. The left-handed material (LHM) can realize the electromagnetic wave's tunneling effect and amplify evanescent wave, and the zero refractive index material can enhance the gain of the antenna effectively by concentrating its beams. Such effects can improve the radiation gain and the matching condition of the antenna, and reduce the proposed antenna's return loss. The results provide a new design method for achieving high gain multi-band antennas.
