The NEWWA Alumni Club held the second NEWWA Photography Contest in 2019 in an effort to engage members in a creative capacity. All members were invited to submit photos related to drinking water for a chance to win prizes and a cover feature on the NEWWA journal. There were 10 submissions in 2019. A panel of judges consisting of a NEWWA board member, a young professional and an amateur photographer reviewed the photographs and selected their top three favorites. Kenneth Smith of Auburn Water District took first place with his photo "Sunrise on the New Auburn Water District's Twin 600,000 gallon Leicester St. Tanks." Santhosh Krishna Sekar took both second and third place with her photos "Atkins Reservoir, Amherst, MA," and "Lake Tahoe."
