Thomas Aquinas and the Ethics of Armed Force

Previously, the Journal of Military Ethics has featured articles highlighting the contributions of benchmark - that is, important historical - writers on military ethics. The branch of professional ethics that goes by the name of 'military ethics' has after all been formed through centuries, even millennia, of thought and practice. It is our contention that awareness of the historical roots, branches, and varieties of military ethics can help us better understand what military ethics is even today.
