摘要

In this paper, a novel conformal-strip excited asymmetric rectangular dielectric resonator antenna with a defected ground is proposed for ultra-wide band application. The material used for investigation is FR-4 having dielectric constant 4.3 and dissipation factor 0.025. The proposed geometry offers 124.32% impedance bandwidth for vertical bar S-11 vertical bar-10 dB, i.e. 2.8-12 GHz exciting higher order modes. The proposed antenna is suitable for many wireless applications like S-band, C-band, X-band, WLAN and WiMAX. Prototype offers 8.3 dBi maximum gain at 10 GHz and 93% efficiency at 3 GHz. The prototype is fabricated and it shows concurrence in simulated and measured results.
