Fatal Thirst, Diabetes in Britain until Insulin has been published in the History of Science and Medicine Library series by Brill (ISSSN 1872-0684). Written by Elizabeth Furdell, this volume is produced very attractively and deals with the history of diabetes, the treating doctors, patients and much else. The index and references are most helpful. It is devoid of illustrations but that does not detract significantly from this excellent volume that has very helpful footnotes at the end of many pages allowing for easy reference.
