This case study illustrates how logistics optimization can reduce the need for marketing in a mining company. Economic pressures have impacted supply chain management because companies are now putting increased emphasis on where to source materials and which methods and routes to use for distribution. In resource-based industries where marketing is overshadowed by distribution logistics, minimizing cost is often the focus rather than maximizing revenue.
