摘要

I am pleased to have been asked to offer some comments on the editor's choice article by J. B. Ritchie and Scott C. Hammond—an article that points out (once again) what business education would be like if we did it right. To frame my comments on the substance of the article, I first need to offer some observations about the person of the senior (and original) author. As it will be clear, the person and the article are completely intertwined. J. B. (Bonner) Ritchie is a uniquely nonacademic academic. Indeed, there is almost nothing "academic" about the way he has lived his life—always immersed in the most pressing and substantive issues of his time and always turning his scholarship into meaningful accomplishments in the most challenging settings.
