摘要

This special issue of JME will focus on the United Nations' Global Compact Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative . This multilateral effort represents a comprehensive academic collaboration between the UN and higher education undertaken to embed corporate responsibility and sustainability in the core mission and learning activities of schools of business. This special issue represents an opportunity for affirmative dialog about the role of management education in developing a new generation of leaders capable of managing the complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century. This focus is especially salient given the ongoing debates about the influence of business education on corporate scandals and the more recent economic crisis. We believe it is important for faculty to (1) understand the PRME principles, the evolution of the initiative, and its relationship to corporate citizenship, corporate social responsibility, ethics, and sustainability; (2) share knowledge about their interdisciplinary course content, pedagogical strategies, and curricular innovations that reflect PRME principles; and (3) critically interrogate the opportunities and challenges associated with PRME.
