Sex Trafficking: Inside the Business of Modem Slavery

Much has been written in the past decade or so about modern slavery, often called human trafficking. There are a number of books by authors such as Kevin Bales, Kathryn Farr, Benjamin Skinner, and others. Each book stands a good chance of tearing at your heart with scarcely believable stories of men, women, and children lured away from their homes and into factory work, agricultural labor, domestic labor, prostitution, or even the removal of their organs for transplantation. Once ensnared, they are usually imprisoned, beaten, and/or raped to ensure compliance, sometimes held in place by debt bondage and local custom, and cruelly worked close to death-or even killed.
