Starting from (Sort of) Scratch: Strategies for Developing a Long-Term and Sustainable Online Library Instruction Plan

As the sole librarian responsible for online instruction, thereare many challenges and opportunities when developing aprogram almost from scratch. This case study will examinehow an individual online instruction librarian developed a toolto conduct an environmental scan of a dormant onlineinstruction program and utilized this tool to begin the constructionof a long-term plan to address the needs of adiverse student population. This paper explores how a documentationtool allows users to create a unifying plan whilealso facilitating sustainable maintenance of individual objects.
