Mesures acoustiques, jugements perceptifs et corrélats physiologiques du singing-formant chez les chanteurs et les chanteuses lyriques

At the crossroads of speech and music, this research contribue to a description of the "singing-formant", not only in its acoustic aspects, but also in its physiological and perceptive aspects. From systematic spectral analysis of the phenomenon, the singing-formant is firstly redefined and described from an acoustic point of view, as a reinforcement of extra energy at around 2800 Hz in male subjects and up to 4000 Hz in female ones. What is the perceptive significance of such a phenomenon? Taking into account the voicing context of lyrical singing, we then attempt to show the impact of the singing-formant on the sounds perceived through perception tests. Finally, we attempt to explain its characteristics from a physiological point of view. Vibratory phenomena initially favour the emergence of high-pitched harmonics, richer in the larynx spectra of those of our subjects who have the singing-formant. From a resonance point of view, from the analysis of the contours of middle sagittal slices of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the french vowels [a], [i] and [o] spoken and sung by a professional bass singer, the area functions and spectra of sounds given out have been elaborated, thanks to the vocal tract acoustic simulation software of S. Maeda. Hypotheses relating to the nature and position of articulators favourable to the production of the singing-formant can then be given out, and are of great interest for the education and reeducation of the singing voice.%Au carrefour de la parole et de la musique, ces recherches ont pour objectif une description du formant du chanteur dans ses aspects acoustiques, mais aussi physiologiques et perceptifs. A partir d'analyses spectrales systématiques du phénomène, le formant du chanteur (singing-formant) est d'abord redéfini et décrit d'un point de vue acoustique comme un renforcement d'énergie supplémentaire vers 2800Hz chez les sujets masculins et jusqu'à 4000Hz chez les femmes. Quelle est la signification perceptive d'un tel phénomène? En tenant compte du contexte d'émission propre au chant lyrique, on essaie ensuite de montrer l'impact du formant du chanteur sur les sons entendus à travers des tests de perception. On tente enfin d'expliciter ses caractéristiques d'un point de vue physiologique: Des phénomènes vibratoires favorisent tout d'abord l'émergence d'harmoniques aigus plus riches dans les spectres laryngés de nos sujets possédant le formant du chanteur. D'un point de vue résonantiel, à partir de l'analyse des contours de coupes sagittales médianes d'Imagerie par Résonance Magnétique (IRM) des voyelles [a], [i] et [o] parlées et chantées par une basse professionnelle, ont été élaborées les fonctions d'aire et de transfert des sons émis grâce au logiciel de simulation acoustique du conduit vocal de S. Maeda. Des hypothèses quand à la nature et la position des articulateurs favorables à la génération du formant du chanteur peuvent alors être émises et ne sont pas sans intérêt pour l'éducation et la rééducation de la voix chantée.
