New mobility platforms, such as ride-hailing apps or Transport Network Companies (TNCs) as they are called, are changing how many are getting around. Their ease of use encourages many to forego driving, but they are also reducing use of taxis and public transport. Because people's habits are evolving so quickly, some transport system planners are taking a wait-and-see approach to measure demand changes. Others are regulating TNCs and incorporating their services into planning schemes.
