1950年代,日本では高度経済成長政策のもとに,全国rn各地で大規模な重工業地帯(コンビナート地区)が建設rnされ,これらコンビナート地区から排出される大気汚染rnが社会問題となり大きくクローズアップされた。大気汚rn染物質の中でも最も環境への影響が著しいのは硫黄酸化rn物(SOx)であり,その大部分は,石油火力発電所や工場rnでエネルギー源として使用される燃料用重油などが発生rn源であった。%Vacuum gas oil and vacuum residue are separated by vacuum distillation of an atmospheric residue. Then the vacuum gas oil fraction is only desulfurized. The desulfurized vacuum gas oil is blended to vacuum residue again. That is to say, the hydrodesulfurization of the vacuum gas oil is a method to reduce the sulfur of the heavy oil indirectly.rnHowever, with the demand for heavy oil decrease, the hydrodesulfurization of the vacuum gas oil came to occupy the important position as a pretreatment hydrotreater before FCC unit.rnIn this contribution, a trend of the technological change and the recent catalyst research and development on the HDS catalyst/process of the vacuum gas oil are presented.
