摘要

The writer would like to thank the discussers for their interest inrnhis work on polynomial weirs. It seems, however, the discussers 3.rnmisunderstood the objective of the technical note. The aim was to formulate the exact solution for the head-discharge equation of a polynomial weir [Eq. (11)]. The versatility of the polynomial weir was then demonstrated by showing its capacity to reproduce the behavior of the Sutro weir. The Sutro weir was chosen by the writer as an example because its behavior is well documented and it has been used in practice. There are abundant studies of proportional weirs in the literature, and the aim of the technical note was not to reinvent yet another proportional weir.
