Federal Legislative Update

The 110th Congress left Washington with a burst of energy amidst a flurry of legislative activity in the weeks before the election recess. While there likely will be a lame duck session following the election to address the financial crisis, the 110th Congress has already distinguished itself from the prior "do nothing Congress." By the end of September, this Congress had already been in session more than 30 days longer than the prior Congress, with the House of Representatives having 20 percent more total hours than its predecessor. More importantly, this Congress produced results, enacting a variety of Internet measures, some of which had languished in the prior Congress or even longer.
