Until recently the UK courts have perhaps been slow to adapt libel and privacy law to online publication. A flurry of cases heard in the last year appear to be addressing the situation, although the decisions largely remain fact sensitive.Two recent cases, both concerning the service of Google out of the jurisdiction, give guidance on the liability of intermediaries in the context of Regulation 19 and provide welcome news to publishers.
