The discussion on PL. Nervi's contribution to mechanics and architecture is embedded in the wider framework of the relationship between the two realms. Consciousness and consistency underlying the creativeness of structural designers of 20th century aimed at building innovative works are contrasted with the unsolved complexity in the formal conception and practical realization of nonlinear contemporary architecture.
