Speaking for many world-wide shell experts, we deeply mourn the untimely death of Udo Wittek, Professor and Dr.-Ing. in Structural Mechanics, who passed away on 27 July 2015 after a short period of illness. The IASS and the structural engineering community have lost a tireless leader and contributor to the field of shell and spatial structures.
