摘要

Rural roads are the basic infrastructure required for development in rural areas. The roads constructed through massive investment done by Government of India under PMGSY and other schemes are required to be maintained, for which pavement management tools like Highway Development and Management Tool (HDM-4) has to be calibrated for local conditions and applied. Pavement deterioration models for the prediction of road conditions are the main input to the calibration of HDM-4 deterioration models. Deterioration models of HDM-4 have provisions for adapting to local conditions, to take into account the variations in material's characteristics, environment and traffic conditions. In this study, deterioration models were developed using the performance data collected from twenty rural road sections in Kerala for a period of four years. Models were developed for ravelling, pothole and roughness progression and were validated. These models were used to calibrate HDM-4 deterioration models for rural roads in India.
