The difficulty in calculating the feed position of microstrip antenna is due to the involvement of a large number of physical parameters and hence their associated optimal values. It is indeed very difficult to formulate an exact numerical solution through empirical studies based on practical observations. In order to circumvent this problem, an alternative solution is achieved using artificial neural networks. Neural networks are systems that can be trained to remember the behaviour of a modelled structure at given operational points, and that can be used to approximate the behaviour of the structure outside of the training points. In this paper, PCCAD software is used to find the position of feed for all sets of lengths and widths for matching the impedance of feed with the impedance of rectangular microstrip patch antenna. A relative performance of the^ different training algorithms is carried out for estimating antenna - the position of feed for all sets of lengths and widths for matching the impedance of feed with the impedance of rectangular microstrip patch antenna, with particular attention paid to the speed of computation and accuracy achieved. Results using artificial neural networks (ANN) are compared with simulated results. ANN results are more agreement with simulated results.
