Following Parts I and 2 of his paper ([I] [2]) Philip Kelly explains how introducing superior digital-based transmission and switching systems into the network led to the introduction of an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). In this final part of his paper, the author also explores the role of digital leased line facilities, early electronic mail systems, non-voice services and future trends in computer communications.
