Keith Ward embarks on a nostalgic trip, starting in the 1950s, when he was a General Post Office (GPO) Technical Officer working at Canterbury Repeater Station maintaining early valve-type transmission equipment. By the 1980s, when the company had become BT, he was Chief Engineer Planning and Works, responsible for planning the British Telecommunications' switched and transmission networks in the UK and its implementation, including the introduction of new systems and features.
