WHY INDUSTRY 4.0?

Our planet is now visibly stressed by the demands of 7.5Bn people. We continue to escalate our consumption and create pollution to the detriment of our own health along with all other life forms. Simply refining our current industries will not be sufficient to correct the damage already inflicted, nor can it get us close to sustainability. To date our Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycling (3R) results have been lamentably poor with schemes seldom giving positive returns. Probably the biggest failing has been politically-driven decisions based on instinct, emotion and little real information rather than the application of science and technology.A further problem-set centres on green energy with policy decisions distorted by simple-minded economic models rather than towards some future sustainable norm.
