BSI Geotextile Committee

At the last committee meeting of B/553 held on the 12th May 2016, it was agreed to set up an Asphalt Reinforcement Sub Group and report back to the main committe. The members proposed for this new Sub Group are Paul Sanders H.E., Chris Sullvan representing CIHT, Craig Andrews representing RSTA and Howard Cooke representing IAT. Following this meeting, the B/553 working group have received a request from the secretary of B/510 "Road Materials" Group that a need has been identified for a PD to support BS EN 15381 "Geosynthetics and geotextile -related products - Characteristics required for use in pavements and asphalt overlays". The B/510 committee feel that work on the standard EN15381 and an associated UK PD (Public Document) is transferred from B/553 to B/510. The next meeting of B/553 is due to be held on Tuesday 11th October where we should receive further updates on the acceptance of this proposal. The main issue is there are over 150 projects under CEN/TC189 and all of these are currently allocated to B/553.
