Raman Endowment Lecture:Water Supply Engineering: Some Reflections

I feel deeply honoured by the kind gesture of the Organising Committee of this Annual Convention of IWWA for having invited me to deliver the Raman Endowment Lecture. I do not know if I really qualify to receive this recognition by this august body. Nonetheless, the mere thought that this occasion will provide me withan opportunity to relive some of the indelible memories of my association with late Professor V. Raman while at NEERI enticed me to accept with humility the invitation extended by two of my former colleagues at NEERI, Professors Vasanth Mhaisalkar and Rajesh Gupta, both with VNITnow. Late Professor V. Raman was an outstanding public health engineer, an erudite scholar and an astute teacher of his time, and above all a tall personality and a great human being. He was one of the strong pillars of NEERI and I salute him as one of my mentors.
