摘要

Water forms one of the fundamental requirements for sustaining life on the earth. Most of the cities are developed along the water bodies like rivers, lakes, ocean etc. The water distribution system consists of several components such as intake, pumping, transmission, treatment, storage, distribution network etc. The transport and distribution network forms the single most important and difficult component of the water distribution network. India occupies 9th place in order of the countries that get annual renewable water resources. About 1908 Km~3 of water is produced every year in India by renewable water resources. We had plenty of water in the past 3 centuries. At one time in the year 1700, per capita availability of water wads even 15021 m~3/year, which is estimated to decrease to 1118 m~3/year in the year 2050. If the per capita availability of water becomes less than 1000 m3/year, our country faces water problems. It is indeed scary that India will be on the threshold of becoming water scarce country in the year 2050. Presently no Indian water supply utility provides 24 x 7 continuous water supply to their customers. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is planning to translate the existing networks into 24 x 7 water supply, to ensure continuous supply to the consumers with minimum losses. Presently the supply is once in two days in most of the localities, but with the commissioning of Godavari waters, there is an additional quantity of water available to the city. In this study Adikmet Sub-Zone-1 of Adikmet Water Distribution Zone of Hyderabad is designed for 24 x 7 supply having an area of about 1.66 Sq. Km. For an efficient and 24x7 supply with minimal leakages, a calibration of water distribution network of Adikmet Sub-Zone-1 is performed by considering various pressure points in the network and assessing the flow in the network. The present study initially redesigns and optimises the network using Genetic Algorithm. In this study the three objective functions are designed in calibration of Adikmet Sub-zone of water distribution network. The calibration of the network has been done for roughness coefficient (C) considering different diameters. In this investigation, the C values for DI pipes are determined using H20MAP Water with Genetic Algorithm after calibration (C-140) is different than what could be assumed(C= 130). The newly modified average Hazen Williams roughness coefficient (C=140) value for the DI pipes is considered in design of water distribution network system for the DMA area andit isvalidated with the ECIL Zone distribution network system in Hyderabad Metropolitan city.
