摘要

The state of Maharashtra is leading in the field of improvements and decentralization of rural water supply and sanitation. Out of the total population of 112.4 million in the Maharashtra, 61.8 million people (approximately 55%) live in rural areas. Government of Maharashtra receives funds under Central Government sponsored National Rural Drinking Water Project to support rural water supply programme and the Government is considering need of independent verification (third party technical inspection) of water supply work under the programme. This Paper focuses on the ongoing schemes in Thane district under National Rural Drinking Water Program (NRDWP) and under Mukhymantri Payjal Yojna (MPY). The study area selected under this scheme is Borsheti RWSS. The collection oj base-line data includes Detailed Project Report (DPR) and field visit. EPANET Software is used to verify the design parameters such as pressure, flow rate and to understand the current status of schemes. Then the design details oj system components have been checked which in all consists of rising main, pumping station, pump house, distribution system, storage tank. This paper is outlining a framework for technical evaluation of rural water supply programs through the lens of an existing rural water supply scheme. The expected outcome of this study is to suggest the practical recommendation for improving planning & design of Rural Water Supply Scheme.
