I would like to express my congratulations to the author for having carried out an interesting work that will let us predict in a better way the total bed material discharge. The new formula for the computation in alluvial channels is based on the total-load transport parameter, whose total sediment concentration by weight can be directly obtained from the following equation proposed by the author: C= (g_t)/(Vh) = k (γ_s)/(γ_s-γ) (τ_o)/(Vh) (u_*~('2)-u_(*c)~2)/ ω (24) this equation includes all the principal elements, i.e., water depth or hydraulic radius h, mean velocity V, energy slope S, shear stress τ_o and sediment size d. The factor of proportionality is k = 12.5 for a wide range of hydraulic conditions, irrespec-live of sediment size, sediment density, channel aspect ratio and sediment concentration.
