As part of NAHRO's Housing America campaign, a poster contest on the theme "What Home Means to Me" is held each year for children residing in affordable housing and community developments owned or administered by NAHRO member agencies. The contest is a collaborative effort of NAHRO's chapter/state, regional, and national organizations. National honorees are select- ed from chapter/state-level winning entries; from these, a jury chooses 13 winners, who receive savings bonds and have their art used in the annual "What Home Means to Me" calendar. The grand prize winner is also brought to Washington, D.C. to address attendees of NAHRO's Legislative Conference in March.
