HOUSING RULES:A Review of the 2016 HUD Regulations

GEORGI BANNA, ERIC OBERDORFER, TUSHAR GURJAL JENNY HSU AS WE LOOK FORWARD to 2017 and all that comes with a new administration, examining where we are in the HUD regulatory frame-work will provide solid footing for the upcoming adventure. 2016 has been a very busy year for HUD and its programs—the Department released more than 20 regulations and notices in 2016. This article will focus on many of these and other regulations and notices providing details on the rules along with the impacts on and concerns of NAHRO members. There are four broad categories: cross-cut-ting (regulations and notices that affect more than one program), community development, Section 8 and Public Housing, with indi-vidual topics discussed in each category.
