HUD's Rental Assistance Demonstration has Generated Two Billion Dollars in Private Investment

On March 21, HUD announced in a press release that the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program has generated more than $2 billion in private investment. The program originated as a tool to preserve public housing properties and address the backlog of deferred maintenance caused by habitual underfunding of the Capital Fund by Congress. Under the RAD program, PHAs can access private financing to "rehabilitate and preserve existing affordable housing, while expanding opportunity in communities across the nation."
