It has been 15 years since Michael Gorman first wrote Our Enduring Values, Librarianship in the 21st Century. In this new work, Our Enduring Values Revisited: Librarianship in an Ever-Changing World, Gorman revisits the values of the profession in light of advancements and events over the past 15 years and their impact on libraries. This new edition follows the same format as the first work, but with commentary relevant to the information age of today. The world has become incredibly more globalized as a result of transformative communication and technologies capabilities. These changes have significantly impacted libraries. Gorman does an excellent job of examining whether or not the changes have impacted the values of the profession. He insightfully notes that with the advances in technology, many have been quick to point to the demise of libraries and subsequently to the demise of the profession. Through thought-provoking illustrations, Gorman points out that the need for libraries and for those who can collect, organize, and navigate the incredible amount of information and resources now readily available remain necessary to ensure access and preservation of the human record.
