THE RESOURCE-BASED VIEW AND TRANSNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY

Despite its considerable appeal, the Resource Based View of the firm as currently articulated is inadequate for the job of explaining transnational technol- ogy strategy, although it doe explain some phenomena. Its explanatory power can be significantly increased through the inclusion of a resource portfolio per- spective and by the acknowledgement that imitation as well as the pursuit of the unique can be viable resource strategy.
