The cultural moment in tourism

This book makes a valuable contribution to the heritage and cultural tourism research. It promises to explore the concept of cultural or heritage tourist through cultural moments and to reconceptualise the term 'cultural tourism'. The editors argue that the literature on cultural tourism is mostly approached from supply-side perspectives and evaluated within one discipline, whereas this book adopts an interdisciplinary approach and evaluates cultural tourism in the contemporary cultures. Case studies provide a holistic understanding of the cultural moment in different contexts; examples range from Dracula's Castle in Transylvania to 'gangland' in Los Angeles and slavery heritage sites in Ghana. Furthermore, the book showcases different methodologies used in cultural tourism research through case studies.
