The Palgrave handbook of contemporary heritage research

Heritage may be classified as tangible (physical), intangible (social-psychological-cultural) or both. It is continuously being created and recontextualized (or physically destroyed) by groups with different ancestry and different historical, political or religious perspectives (among others). Recent examples are the debates surrounding the removal of the Confederate Flag at the state legislature in South Carolina, USA, and the destruction by ISIS of artifacts at the Mosul Museum in northern Iraq. This handbook tackles a sample of these types of issue head on, in an interdisciplinary context and using contemporary methodological perspectives.
