Emotion, affective practices, and the past in the present

This edited book gathers contributions from scholars and professionals from the fields of heritage and museum studies as well as social psychology, cultural studies, education, history, sociology, media studies and anthropology. The editors introduce the book as one of few that thoroughly explores the link between practice and affect, stating that most current theoretical streams have overly focused on concepts such as discourse, performance and materiality in the production of heritage without in-depth consideration of the role of emotions. When practice and affect are considered, it is usually done separately and as by-products of heritage. The editors of the volume thus argue for a merging of these two concepts to provide a critical account of how emotions are used to produce heritage.
