This Thematic Issue contains 11 high quality contributions from consolidated groups from Latin-America and also partner groups on the subject of Photocatalysis: From the treatment of emerging contaminants to energy conversion. This Thematic Issue results from the proceedings of the First Latin-American Congress of Photocatalysis (LACP 2012). The congress was held in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico in September 2012, as a forum to present and discuss the state-of-the-art of the photocatalytic processes and sustainable chemistry. The event was partially supported by the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo. 112 scientists from Latin-American and Europe attended the congress and 78 high quality works were presented.
