Semi-Analytical Method for the Analysis of Solar Sail Heliocentric Orbit Raising

The proposed semi-analytical method is useful for the analysis of minimum-time solar sail heliocentric orbit raising, and the key feature is its capability of giving a prompt solution without the need of solving an optimal control problem. For sufficiently small values of characteristic accelerations, the method provides an accurate analytical relationship for the accumulated velocity change and the flight time as a function of the mission parameters.
