ALKAHER et al. recently proposed using the feedback linearization method for obtaining guidance laws that enable interception of a maneuvering target by an interceptor having bounded maneuverability. A planar engagement with nonlinear kinematics was analyzed, and linear quadratic optimal control theory was used for the derivation. The zero-effort-miss transformation was used for trying to simplify the derivation and obtaining closed-form feedback solutions. In this Comment, some serious errors in the derivation and analysis are pointed out. These seem to invalidate the stated results.
