Discussion of 'Construction of Concrete-Faced Rockfill Dams with Weak Rocks' by Hao-Feng Xing, Xiao-Nan Gong, Xiao-Guang Zhou, and Hai-Feng Fu

摘要

The authors of this paper have presented interesting case histories on the construction of concrete-faced rockfill dams (CFRDs) with weak rocks and reported the physical, mechanical, and hydraulic properties of weak rockfill during placement and compaction. The discusser would like to address the separation of the concrete face slab from the cushion layer due to settlement of rockfill, crusting developed during the compaction of weak rocks, and behavior of the CFRDs when subjected to strong seismic excitation, on the basis of experience obtained from the construction of CFRDs in Turkey.
