The authors have presented interesting results of parametric finite-element analyses on the effect of dip-slip fault rupture propagation in overlying cohesionless soil. The parametric analyses examined the effects of fault type (normal versus reverse), sand ductility (loose versus dense), dip angle (45° versus 60°), and magnitude of base dislocation. The authors also presented results from centrifuge model tests to demonstrate the validity of their analytical methodology.
