The writer wishes to thank Professor Lutenegger for his insightful comments on this topic and for providing a summary of his recent field testing on helical anchors. Comparing numerical and field test results is often difficult because of a wide range of factors, and without specific details about the site conditions and the testing procedure it is difficult for the writer to compare his numerical work to Professor Lutenegger's field tests in this case. Nonetheless, the results presented by the discusser in Fig.
