Arsenic concentration above the value of 10 μg/L for drinking water established by the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline has been observed in groundwater in several regions of the world, including Argentina, Chile, Australia, the United States, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hungary, Gangetic plain of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand states in India, Inner Mongolia in China, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
