The book is up to date compendium on sources and distribution of environmental radionuclides, covering in detail environmental impacts of the Fukushima accident which occurred on March 2011 in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The book thus represents important contribution to environmental radioactivity studies. It discusses sources of anthropogenic radionuclides introduced into the environment over a long period of time, starting from the global fallout at late forties, but also covering the Chernobyl accident and radionuclide releases from reprocessing nuclear facilities. Authors share their experience and knowledge obtained along their scientific careers, and gathered from the literature. They provide the reader with accurate and objective information about radionuclide variations in the environment. They also cover and compare radiation doses to the public and biota from various radionuclide sources including global fallout and the Chernobyl accident. The book thus gives not only a broad overview of events and the aftermath of the Fukushima NPP accident, as a matter of fact, it provides a survey of the long-term development of nuclear energy through emissions and nuclear accidents, including authorized releases from the Shellafield (UK) and La Hague (France) reprocessing facilities, and their impacts on the European seas and the Atlantic Ocean.
