POLYGHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCBs) IN TRANSFORMER'S AND CAPACITOR'S OILS AND THEIR INFLUENCE OVER HUMAN HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

A negative effect of transformers and transformer's oils, capacitors and capacitor's oils, some materials and products, containing polychlorinated biphenyls on human health and environment is the main subject of the present paper. The experience of different producer companies has been studied. It was found that enterprises are offering different technical decisions for treatment the transformers and capacitors, oils, and mixtures for impregnation which contain polychlorinated biphenyls, on the way to protect human health and environment. On the basis of cost-benefit analysis effective actions are proposed. The proposed actions could be a part of the national action plan, which is under development.
