ECONOMICAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH IMPORTANCE OF RODENTS

Rodents are reservoirs and spread about 40 infectious and parasitic diseases on people and animals. They eat not only when they are hungry. Rodents gnaw through different objects (floors, furniture, books, electrical wiring and cables, girders, expensive apparatuses) to sharpen their teeth which grow daily. There are described cases of building fall, railroad accidents, stay of production process, and conflagration from short circuit, etc. The statement of the USA experts is that 1/4 of unknown origin conflagrations are a result of the rodent activity. Annual losses from rodent action in the world are over 1.5 milliard dollars.
