摘要

The hydrotechnical works carried out in order to improve navigation conditions on the Calarasi - Braila sector of the Lower Danube, raise up the issue of the influence they might have on the environment. Therefore, it was necessary to undertake activities for monitoring the environmental factors. Considering the importance that it has in the aquatic ecosystems, among the set of parameters investigated in this monitoring process, it is also included the water current velocity. Thus, the present paper has as main objective the display of the water current velocity distribution in different situations, by varying the discharge values and also by changing the riverbed morphology. Based on the data obtained from in situ measurements carried out using the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) technique and on the information resulting from the Delft3D numerical simulation software, a comparative analysis has been conducted. These investigations were performed in the selected working sections, in the Bala branch-Old Danube bifurcation area. The results obtained from this research highlight both the relationship between these parameters (the water current velocity, discharge and riverbed morphology) and the influence of the hydrotechnical structures.
