DISCUSSION OF CRITICAL FACTORS IN SUSTAINABLY ECOLOGICAL ARCHITECTURE DESIGN

Climate change caused by global warming has resulted in crises in human survival. The situation would get worse when the emission of carbon dioxide is not positively controlled. The threat to the environment gradually reflects on the society that architects constantly explore the sustainable development of buildings. Ecological buildings, a new idea proposed nowadays, aim at the coordinate development of humans, buildings, nature, and societies, according to the principles and methods of ecology, to abstemiously utilise and change the nature, seek for ecological building environment most suitable for human survival and development, and treat building environment as an organic, structural, and functional system. Aiming at Taipei Architects Association in Taiwan, the supervisors and employees are distributed 360 copies of questionnaire for this study. Total 244 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate of 68%. According to the results, suggestions are proposed, expecting to help change domestic building models and ideas and efficiently develop ecological buildings, under the concept of sustainable development.
